In conjunction with International Museum Day on Thursday, 18/05/2023 the Literature, Language and Sports Cell of the Majuli Cultural University, has established a mini museum as North-East Ethnic Museum on the University premises. The idea of the museum project was proposed and taken up on 06/02/2023 and came up as a joint effort of Dr. Pankajyoti Borah and Dr. Himadri Saikia, Assistant Professor of the Department of Assamese, of the University. The main objective of this museum is to scientifically preserve the rare and lost resources of art, sculpture, painting, literature, language, script, folk ornaments etc. which are prevalent and used among the various ethnic groups living in different parts of North-eastern societies. It will also pave the way for research and intellectual thinking in various directions in the future and will make it very significant for the department’s students and future generations to be well-versed in the distinct culture and rich heritage.  

 

     The ceremony was hosted by Dr. Himadri Saikia and the museum was inaugurated by Dr. Binod Chandra Bora, Registrar of the University who made a reflection on the objectives and importance of the museum on the occasion. Dr. Bora also requested the gathering to contribute to the expansion of its scope by adding more resources in the near future. Dr. Subhajyoti Borgohain, Ms. Aoyana Buragohain, Mr. Manashjyoti Bora, Mr. Rahul Kalita, Mr. Biswajit Bharali, Mr. Khirasindhu Saikia, Assistant Registrar; Dr. Bhaskarjyoti Boruah, Section Officer; Office Staff and many other students of the university were present at the ceremony.
