Majuli University of Culture hosted a Freshman Social event on August 22, 2024. The meeting commenced with the University Anthem, sung by the students. The Chairperson of the Freshmen Social Committee, Dr. U. N. Goswami, delivered the welcome address.
The esteemed guest of honor, Dr. Dhruba Jyoti Bhuyan, a faculty member at Assam Medical College, addressed the freshers. In his speech, Dr. Bhuyan emphasized the importance of positive thinking in overcoming mental pressure and achieving success. He urged the students to make the most of their time.
Other distinguished speakers included Professor Nirode Baruah, honourable Vice-Chancellor of Majuli University of Culture, Professor Pranjit Kalita from Dibrugarh University, and Mr. Mrigen Jhalan, the Chairperson of the Murulidhar Jhalan Foundation.
The Registrar, Dr. Binod Baruah, expressed gratitude to the Murulidhar Jhalan Foundation for their generous donation of Rupees 25 Lakhs towards the academic advancement of Majuli University of Culture's students. Two meritorious students, Barasha Das and Protibha Gogoi, were awarded scholarships for the first year. This scholarship will be offered annually to deserving students based on both academic merit and financial need.
Several prominent figures from Majuli, including retired Principal Ghana Kanta Nath, retired lecturer Dilip Phuan, artist Prabhat Bora Bhurabhakat, and others, graced the occasion.
The event concluded with a cultural program inaugurated by renowned artist Bishnu Das. The students of Majuli University of Culture showcased their talents through various cultural performances.
